Just Rain

When I say its raining here, I mean RAIN.  Tons of it, since Sunday night, 5" fell yesterday.  They've closed schools today, there are boats in streets in Cranston, about 15 miles away, moving people from their homes, rivers are overflowing  and its supposed to continue all day today.....another 3" or so.   I;'m thankful to be inside and dry in a town that still has passable roads.  And I can't wait to see some sunshine again!

Anyway, I spent most of yesterday afternoon in my scraproom.  I'm thrilled to have a grabbed a spot in  this

so was having some fun playing with Lesson One.  I completed one layout, and started a second.  I'm sort of new to creating from a sketch, but am finding they offer a great jump start -  even to a noncomformist such as myself!  I'll be scanning and sharing those two layouts over the next day or two.

I'm so longing  to see the ocean and to feel the sand between my toes - I threw this together Sunday morning while the big guy was sleeping.

I discovered some tiny shells in my stash so threw them on for an added beachy feel.

And if all goes according to plan, well,  that is as long as I'm done with my knee physical therapy as scheduled,  I'll be on that beach in about four weeks!  It can't get here fast enough!

So, speaking of physical therapy, I'm off to navigate my way through the water and spend yet another hour doing just that.  Its kind of like a spa treatment on just one  leg!

Stay dry enjoy your Tuesday!

Just Five Friday Faves

Good Friday night all!  Hope its warmer where you are than where I am.........its WICKED cold outside!!  We even had a little bit of snow this morning.  Where is spring any way?!!!

So,  these were my five faves this week.

I'm an ex-diet coke addict.  I still drink it once in a while, but only if nothing else is available.  When I was poking around the Wrentham Outlets the other day I got thirsty and discovered this.  I'd never seen one of these before, and chocolate milk is better than soda, right?

This Dooney & Bourke for the summer.

I think once I tell the big guy I found it for free shipping, he'll be all right with it.  Will let you know  on that.  Either way, its a fave.

This is too funny!

Can't get enough of this Stampin Up' border punch,

used here, on the outside edges of the banner.

And Friday fave number five.  Clarin's Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch.  It rocks.
Enjoy your weekend!

Just All Done

Hey there on a Thursday!  Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!  We had fun doing a few open houses on Sunday.  Well really, open condos!  Still didn't find our perfect fit yet, but we'll persevere........

We did get inside of this.

One whole wall, in the living room, was brick, and there were two bedrooms and two baths.  It really was cool, but not quite big enough.  I'm sure I'd miss a balcony, too.

We may revisit this one, which is brand new (this is the model unit).

It does have a balcony, but the big guy wants a garage.  And that dining area may be too small. We'll see. I never imagined this would be such a difficult decision.

Anyway, the knee is coming along well.  I'm heading to my third physical therapy this morning.

And,  a quick layout from the March Studio Calico kit, Quilting Bee.

I'm hoping to get myself some scrappy time this afternoon.  Seems like its been a push for me to get any creative time this week.

Enjoy your day!

Just Thank You and More Masking Tape

An enormous thank you going out to Laura and Cosmo Cricket for this.  I was beyond thrilled to see that!

And here's that other layout with masking tape.  Cool challenge, Celine!

Enjoy your weekend!  And oh......happy first day of spring!  Its a glorious 72 degrees here!

Just Friday

Its Friday again!  Jumping on to list the faves for the week and then I'm off to enjoy this beautiful, sunny,  sixty-somethin' degree day.

But, before I get to the faves, the good news is I'm free of that big, heavy, cumbersome knee brace.   I'm starting physical therapy on Tuesday which I'm thrilled about - shouldn't be too long getting back to the gym afer that.  I have a new brace that I have to wear for the next three weeks, but its lighter and less cumbersome.  Still got hinges on the sides, but it doesn't click when I walk, so I'm not complaining!

So anyway, first, my new Calphalon grill pan........I  did up some shrimp on it this week.  It rocks.  I love the little grill lines it leaves...

This bright, flowery, Dear Lizzy scrapbook paper

I used a few micro beads in their centers.

The rub ons are cool too.  Haven't used them next, but I'm sure it won't be too long before I do.

With spring just about here, I'm thinking mani and pedi, and loving the new Opi nail colors. How awesome is this!!

"In my back pocket",

And for  dark chocolate and coconut fans , GET THESE before they are gone!! These were the big guy's discovery!
I'm completely hooked on American Idol, so, since we're speaking of faves, and last up,

Enjoy your Friday!!!

Just You Are Here

Happy Tuesday!

So here's that other JoyRide layout, inspired by a challenge on the Studio Calico blog this week.  The challenge was to print or stamp on masking tape.

This masking tape thing was totally fun and I've got another layout using it just about done.  Stay tuned.....

Just Home

Boy, did we have a lazy weekend here........it was pouring rain and wicked windy outside, so we stayed home, inside,  warm and dry.  I spent a nice chunk of time creating on Saturday.

I was feeling the cards and played with those little house stamps,

I was feeling red velvet cup cakes, too.  And even though I had the new Pillsbury spray on frosting, it didn't work out well at all - won't go any futher than that, other than lesson learned:  buy  cupcakes.

And yesterday, we had our own private Law and Order marathon (gotta love the dvr) and caught up on the Damages to date. Oh......so.......good. I don't know how they do it season after season.

Check this out.

We ate too much, napped and then napped some more! Why is it that naps are better on rainy days anyway?

And today, it rained all day.  Again.  I played with some Cosmo Joy Ride - the Mini Deck, stickers and buttons.  Such a fun line!

I created the purple scallop border with a corner rounder.  Its a cool way to get an uneven scallop.

And can you STAND those letter stickers?!!!!  Arctic Frog, Alphabet Avenue........circa what? 2005!!! Man I hoard some things!

Will share the second layout tomorrow.

Happy Monday!

Just A Page

Hello on a rainy Saturday.

OK, I didn't get into my scraproom too much last week, but when I did, I tore into my new Studio Calico box for a bit!   This month's kit, Quilting Bee is now my new favorite kit.......well, until next month I guess!!

I love the adorable Maya Road chipboard buttons, the striped twill ribbon and those JB banner stickers!!

You must check out their kits!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Just Friday Faves

Happy Friday all!

OK, I had the most wonderful birthday yesterday, and, because it was my birthday,  I indulged in things I otherwise wouldn't, like ice cream,  my first fave of the week is just that...........ice cream.

Cold Stone Creamery Ice Cream that is, the best kind of ice cream.  But my new fave flavor?

Peanut Butter Cup Perfection rocks!

Now, when I broke the laptop a while back, it looked pretty hopeless that we'd ever be able to recover anything that was on it - no power source, no info, right?  Wrong, enter
this 3" x 6" piece of pure techie genius..........

the Rocketfish hardrive enclosure kit.  Once I got over the fear of unscrewing and unplugging  things from the laptop, all was well.  I removed the hard drive from it  and then simply installed the laptop hard drive into this little red case, screwed it back together, and powered it up via USB in my desktop computer.  Voila!  Hello laptop recovery!  LOVE IT!!!

The next two faves go to scrappy goodness.............

This Stampin Up Stamp set.........

I've started a project with these that I hope to finish over the weekend or early next week.

Then come the Cosmo Joyride goodies............papers, chipboard, buttons and more.!  Can't wait to play with them!

And lastly, this sign that I snapped a photo of yesterday.

I haven't won the car yet, but I sure had some excellent luck at the 5 cent slot machine!

Enjoy your weekend!!

Just View

Its another beautiful spring day here in Rhode Island, and I'm off to do a little condo shopping and then lunch with a friend.   Looks like we've got to enjoy the sun now - the forecast calls for rain tomorrow through Sunday.

Anyway, jumping on really quick to post a layout from last week.  Yeah........I've got Miami on my mind lately..............

Have a great day!

Just Like Spring

Oh!  It was just like a spring day today, like 60 degrees!!  It was glorious.   It was my mother's birthday, so I spent the day with her, poking through a few stores and then out to lunch and more stores.  I'm so blessed to still have my mother.........Happy Birthday Rose!!

I spotted this while we were in Border's, so picked it up for the next read.   The cover photo caught my eye.........

The story sounds pretty good too,.......well, good if you like psychological thrillers.

In scrappy things, RAH's  blog had a sketch last week - its a cool sketch - don't miss it!

Here's my take on it.

I wanted to add some real dimension so I grabbed some Bazzill chips out of my stash and then stitched fabric to some and adhered paper to others.   I tucked some hemp inbetween the squares too.

And now, I'm off to create a project for book club on Wednesday.

Have a great night!

Just Friday Favorites

Its Friday!  Man, how the week just flies by.........already time for favorites.  And here they are!

First, know that I love soup, could eat it every day,  all day.  I can't resist it at a restaurant,  or from room service  and love to have it with a salad at lunch. Earlier this week, I discovered this in the frozen food aisle.  Its delicious, this vegetable one, and the mushroom barley one too - odd to put a bag of frozen soup in boiling water, but it works!

Next, who can resist these kind of mail days,

And in the box?

Yay Anthology!  Yay Studio Calico!!!

In television, again on the list,

After 100 episodes, how could they pull this from us?  It will always, always be one of my faves and I'm going to miss it.

March is a big birthday month in this family, so I've got favorite cakes on my mind.......

And last, but not least, its Oscar weekend and, given my love for all things retro, photography and the movies............. this

Just Shoes

So, I've been missing my work lately and have been dabbling with going back.  Its been about five years since I've paralegaled  or even worked full time for that matter, so its a little frightening , but after a great interview on Friday  (the knee brace blends in well with black stockings........), I'm thinking I can eventually get that long lost professional confidence back.

More importantly,  I'm loving having a reason to buy new shoes!!

First up, these BOCs - like walking on a cloud.  Love, love, love them.

And next, a cute Vaneli sling back, which I haven't worn yet, but they look great in my closet!

I did end up declining a second interview at the firm I went to on Friday - corporate litigation and I'm a med mal girl - but I've got a few other opportunities in the works, so we shall see........

Anyway, in the scrappy stuff, I went back to my mini book for a little bit yesterday,

Today, its snowing/raining/icing, so, I'm staying inside and going to play with Studio Calico's weekly sketch.

And, here is that RAH surprise I mentioned.  Great sketch, isn't it?  My take will be fully revealed on the blog tomorrow with the rest of my projects, and then, throughout the month, the rest of the  design teams' takes and projects will be revealed.

Oh, did you see American Idol last night?  I'm lovin Casey James and Lee Dewyze.  You?

Enjoy your Wednesday all!
