Just a Quick Tutorial

Hey all!!!  I hope you enjoyed the Practical Scrappers' blog hop!!!  Massive inspiration along the way for sure!  And I'd like to shout out a  huge thank you to everyone who commented here and became followers and also thanks to Practical Scrappers and Liz Qualman for the inspiration.

Anyway, did you want to Zing on a transparency?  I was inspired to do this from a layout of Vee Jennings.  Its a really fun technique and a great way to add a  punch to your page.  Its pretty easy to do, so here's a quick tutorial.

Grab your supplies..........

Versarmark Ink
Zing (or any embossing powder)
Stamps
Heat Gun
Acrylic Block
Transparency

My stamps are a little stained, so I apologize for that.  Any recommendations on stamp cleaners?  I currently use a Technique Tuesday one but it doesn't always seem to do the trick.

I used clear transparency sheets from Stampin Up.  You can also try this on any  other transparency pieces you may have in you stash.  It makes a cool effect if you use one that already has a design on it, too.

Apply Versamark ink to the stamp and stamp you image on the transparency.  Be careful, it can be slippery.  Its a clear on clear image so it may be tough to see, but if you tilt it and hold it up to the light, you can see it.

Apply the Zing powder to the stamped image.

Tap off the extra powder, revealing just your stamped image.

And now the heat.........hold the heat gun at least six inches from the transparency and keep the gun moving a lot, it may take a little while for the powder to melt but you will get there.

The powder will start to become shiny and a deeper color.

Let the image cool for a few minutes.

Thats it,  done!!

Cut out the transparency piece and create!

I went with a card for this one.

Give this a try!

Just Link With Love Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Practical Scrappers "Linking with Love" Blog Hop!  I'm sure you agree that its always important to give credit where it is due to another crafter.  That, is linking with love.  And that is the Practical Scrappers blog hop!!

All of the design team members used the same inspiration piece to create their projects and each designer will properly "Link with Love".  The hop runs through Noon EST on Sunday, giving you lots of time to get through it.

Here is the inspiration piece, created by Liz Qualman  from which we all drew our inspiration.   At the end of the hop, you'll land on  Liz's blog where she'll have a new sketch.

And here is my take on it.

I was drawn to the the way Liz placed her photo toward the left of the page, and loved the way the various elements surrounded three sides of it.  It was from that where I drew my inspiration.

Where Liz placed "live, love, laugh", I wet with a chipboard label holder - still totally hooked on Zing on transparency.

Where she tagged, I tagged too.

And where she flowered,  I zig zagged stiched.

Take Note:  some  of the designers are providing prizes and Practical Scrappers is providing a prize for one person who becomes a follower at each stop (for all the details head over to Practical Scrappers).

Have fun!!!

Just Happy February 29th!

I think its cool that there are 29 days of February this year.  Which also means we have 366 days instead of 365.  Which really means we have a bonus day.

Anyway,

and I am so excited  to say I'll be participating as a  Fresh Face Designer for Practical Scrappers from March 1st through May 31st!

I found Practical some time ago and was instantly a fan!  I recently entered the layout contest they sponsored, and each week I was completely inspired by the challenges presented.   Its a site full of inspiration and there, you can find sketches, challenges, videos and tutorials and lots, lots  more.  You'll adore their "frugal finds" section, there are quzzes to take  and the syle "review" section is pretty cool.

Be sure to go poke around there, and check back here on March 2nd for a "practical" surprise!!!

Just Weekend Things

Hello there on a Tuesday.  Hope your weekend was fun.

I stumbled on this cool diner on Saturday and can't wait to go back.  Its called Patriots Diner, and is in Woonsocket.  The eggs benedict were delish and the atmosphere, totally 1950's.

It was in there, where I found the kitchen table I've been dreaming about having............so neat, isn't it?

Got some creative time in on Sunday, and  found myself embossing, again.  This time, on some cool Crate border stickers.

Also did a bit of experimenting with my Cuttlebug.

Will post the full layouts after I get them scanned.

Did a little vacation planning, too.  Well, actually, a weekend vacation for my birthday (coming pretty soon!!!)  at The Grand Pequot Tower at Foxwoods.

Here, on the Cape,  for an April getaway.

And again, I will be here for a week in September.  I never get tired of this one.

Ended the day watching the lovely dresses coming down the red carpet!

And there it went!  They go by so fast, don't they?

Just Random Snaps

I cannot believe it is the last Friday of the month!  February has proven to be yet another month to completely fly by, and I’m still waiting for that blizzard to arrive…………it isn’t looking good for even having one though, so I'm thinking I should give up on it.

Anyway, some random snaps, from the Valentine getaway at MGM Grand,

and lastly,

I'm still loving Cocoa Daisy's February kit and am planning on some  creative time over the weekend.  Hopefully, I can maneuver around that mess!!
