Just a OLW blog hop!!

Happy Tuesday everyone. Its a great day for a OLW blog hop!  Its snowing like MAD here - our total snow for January is about 60" or so.  There's another 12" the way, falling as I type this post.

Anyway, my word?

ser·en·dip·i·ty

/ˌsɛrənˈdɪpɪti/

[ser-uhn-dip-i-tee]
–noun

1. an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident.

2. good fortune; luck: the serendipity of getting the first job she applied for.

So, absolutely, serendipity is my word.  I'm trying to own it, I'm enjoying it, I'm going to keep it with me for the next eleven months.

I really gave a lot of thought to the word I wanted to follow me through the year.  I wanted a positive word, one that was fun too, and one that "felt" like my life at times.  In the end, serendipity was it.

Funny too, it REALLY has been keeping me company.   Seems like every few days, something happens that causes me to say to the big guy "It's serendipity!!!"  A couple of weeks ago,  I finally decided to bring up the rest of my rubber stamps and inks from the basement into my scrap room.   As I was going through my stamps, I discovered this one, which I TOTALLY forgot I even had.........

By chance, this stamp once belonged to the one and only Mr. Holtz!  Six or so years ago, while attending my first CHA , I was not only lucky enough to meet him, but he was giving away some of his stamps at the end of the day!  I got this one!  Cool, isn't it?

And here's a look in my book......

The title page.........

A full page of smaller "pieces" of my word ...........

I also created an envelope for stashing ticket stubs, little notes about my word, etc.

Alrighty then!  Time to "hop" around for more One Little Word Inspiration!!!  Head on over to Abbey's blog to continue with the fun (all go live at 11:00 AM EST).

And if you unexpectedly discover something along the way that distracts you........

Just Here I Am.............

I know right?  Since December 5th - such a neglectful blogger  - but here I am!

Work is wonderful.  It was quite the adjustment, and 9 to 5 REALLY cuts into my scrap time, but its all falling into place quite nicely now.  Its a fabulous firm, and I feel blessed to be working there.   And I'm finding my scrappy time groove .............

Christmas was marvelous,

especially the HP wide format printer that Santa left under the tree.  I LOVE it!  I haven't dabbled with any hybrid or completely digital pages yet, but I'm loving a traditional layout with a big photo!

So anyway, I'm taking Ali's "One Little Word" at BPS this year.  So far, the class is really cool, and I can't wait for our February assignment.  There are some terrific ladies there, so much talent in one place.  A  few of us will be having a little blog hop tomorrow, so again I say, here I am, getting ready to hop tomorrow!

Be sure to come back tomorrow for the hop, and to check out some fantastic OLW projects!

Just ten or so days later,

and finally, I'm coughing less, sleeping less, blowing my nose less and no more body aches - that flu really kicked me in the behind.  Its been slow getting up off the sofa........

But I'm up.  I started my new job on Thursday last week (totally love it) and am able to stay awake long enough for some creating and other life things.

I had been itching to get into that Jenni Bowlin kit and finally got to it.  I loved the red, black and cream papers, the lace, the felt, the black vintage buttons, just all of it.  I may need to get that yummy box every month as a happy 2011 present to myself!

I've also started to do a little holiday decorating around the house.  Still a ways to go, but I'll get there...

Got these cool berries on the mantel.

And hung a pretty wreath on the door.  The big guy picked up the plain wreath for me last Sunday at Loews and I simply added a flower cut from a Christmas stem and hung it from the top of the door with gold sparkly ribbon.

I've got a table centerpiece project in the works.  As soon as I get more cardstock (tomorrow  on my lunch hour)  I'm hoping to finish this up.  Here's a peek,

So much bling!!!  Gotta love Martha  - this project is in this month's Living with several other festive ones.   Martha's  website is full of ideas as well.

And oh!  Don't forget, its Sunday.  And Sunday means............

And now I'm off to watch yet another sappy Hallmark movie!!

Have a great day!!

Just Happy Thanksgiving

Oh, I had such high hopes the other day.........sadly, this flu kicked in and I've done little else than sleep, cough and blow my nose.  I am feeling better this morning, so am hoping.......  In any event, I wish a blessed Thanksgiving to everyone.

Just a little sick..

Last week was going along so well and then BAM, Friday night I suddenly had a runny nose and started coughing.  I could feel my chest filling up and by last night, the fever set in.  I slept most of the day away today, but managed to stay awake for the second half of the game which thankfully, had a happy ending!

Yeah.....the Pats beat the Colts 31-27!!!

Anyway, I feel a little better right now, so tomorrow, I'm looking forward to spending the day in my jammies and maybe doing a little creating.  I'm fixin' to do a little something with this.

I'll be back...........

Just Congratulations

to my brother, Chris.  I'm thrilled for him.    Check it out

Sergeant

And actually, I'm thrilled for myself, too.   I got official word last night that I landed the new paralegal job I was after.  Finally, I'll have my own office again and I can't wait to surround myself with my photos at work. Well, I should add, I love the work too!

In scrappy thrilled, I got this little package of goodies in the mail the other day

and am planning to tear it open and create this afternoon.

When it first arrived, I was completely and immediately inspired by the thin corregated cardboard that it was wrapped in.  I immediately tore off a piece and took a punch to it.

And here's the end result.

For the "09", I used Studio Calico's new Jett Numbers.  They rock.  Also loved the sparkly MM brads in the kit this month.

And now, I'm off to Bed, Bath & Beyond, on the hunt for a Thanksgiving outfit for my table - we're hosting dinner here next week!

Have a wonderful day!
